A gem of a hotel. 🏨 We spent several nights at the hotel and it’s in a fantastic location for exploring the Amalfi coast. Bang next to the train station and also the bus stop for the Amalfi bus which stops at the major towns. The staff are superb (special shout out to the more mature gentleman in the red jacket who tends breakfast and other duties) he’s a credit to the hotel and adds a definite touch of charm to the establishment. Breakfast was excellent with a large selection of cakes and cereal and bread and ham, mozzarella, various fruit and yoghurts and boiled eggs. Coffee can be made to order. All of the staff were friendly and attentive which is always a sign of a well run hotel. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There’s a small mini bar with basic drinks like beer and coke and water but we didn’t use it. The bathroom was spacious and the walk-in shower superb. Water always hot and pressure good. A definite must after a long day exploring. Would have been nice to have body cream. There was just only 2 shower gel/shampoo bottles. We asked down at the reception for a kettle and they gladly provided one plus cups and saucers and sugar and tea spoons on a well presented tray. The air conditioning worked very efficiently and quietly. The main town of Salerno is right outside your door and it’s worth taking some time to wander the streets and alleyways as there are some outstanding examples of historic architecture. The crypt of St Mathew in the Cathedral is jaw dropping, even if you’re not religious. We got a ticket for three venues ( all close to each other) and were astounded by the art on display. Also recommend you visit the archeological museum which is free. Highly recommend two restaurants for authentic regional food: Mariterraneo , run by Anna and her husband chef Emiliano on Via G Ruggi d’aragona and also La Lampara da Pepe Seccia on Via Dogana Vecchia for a Nonna cooked feast.

This Hotel is in the perfect position just an easy 3-4 minute walk directly opposite the Central station. It is also less than a 10 minute walk from the Ferry terminal where you can take a ferry out to the islands or up the Amalfi Coast. Just outside the front door is the main pedestrian thoroughfare with numerous bars right there and restaurants just a short walk away. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and quite roomy in comparison to many Italian Hotels. The breakfast was very generous and delicious with a good range of savoury and sweet items. Staff were watching and replenishing items so that guests didn’t have to ask. It was clear that the staff were proud of their hotel and its breakfast offerings. One of the things we liked the most was the greeting we received every time we arrived at or left the hotel. Never once were we not acknowledged. This made us feel valued as their guests. We would definitely choose this hotel again if we return to Salerno and highly recommend it to you.

Surprisingly, received a warm welcome (and farewell) from the owner, Signore Gaetano who gave a tour of the reception and breakfast area with beautiful family paintings (like an art gallery). Efficient and helpful staff at the reception (Fabio, Andrea and Ylenia; did not meet the night staff but he should also be very good) and the breakfast staff who were also helpful and provided good service. Excellent location in the center close to the main plaza, train and ferry station and pedestrian street, while rooms are surprisingly quiet. Good breakfast with a variety of bread, fruits, pastries, cold cuts, eggs and cheese and freshly prepared coffee. Rooms are spacious with high ceilings, clean, while beds are firm and pillows comfortable. Bathrooms are clean with enough space for cosmetics and with large bath towel and hair dryer. I will strongly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location – very close to the train station; bus stops & harbor to catch ferries. The hotel was clean. The balcony of our room overlooked the main promenade so we could people watch. It was very quiet at night. Breakfast was delicious – with a wide variety of fresh items, and a member of the hotel staff who made coffee drinks to order. The hotel staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly. They assisted us in buying bus tickets; made restaurant recommendations; even directed us to a self-serve laundromat so we could wash our clothes. The staff demonstrated pride in the hotel. We will carry fond memories of our stay at the Hotel Plaza!

This was really nice property. Professionalism at it’s peak. Really liked the staff and the reception. I would recommend this hotel to everyone visiting salerno for their visit because salerno train station is like a minute walk. Both ports for ferry to amalfi, positsno and capri are like 5 min and 20 min walk. Buses for Amalfi and other places was infront of hotel. Despite this closeness to crowded places you will not feel an inch of disturbance in your room. Also, you can find lot of eateries near this hotel. They also helped us to keep our luggage for long 7-8 hours so that we can finsih our short trip to Amalfi.
